Background
The Democratic Republic of Congo faces severe geographic challenges with regards to optimizing its port infrastructure. The capital city of Kinshasa is located along the Congo River, while the main port of Matadi is located downstream along the river. Unfortunately, the Inga rapids are located in between Matadi and Kinshasa which makes the river completely un-navigable soon after Matadi.
